BEFORE THE PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE for ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT APPLICATION
The Corporation of the City of London
PURPOSE AND EFFECT:
The purpose and effect of this zoning by-law amendment will be to remove from the Zoning By-law a regulation which currently prohibits amplified and electronic music, dancing and other forms of entertainment on patios. This change would implement one action from the Music, Entertainment and Culture Districts Strategy approved on March 21, 2017 by City Council.
The intent is to put noise and hours of operation regulations in the Noise By-law instead of the Zoning By-law. Proposed amendments to Noise By-law PW12 will be considered separately at an upcoming meeting of the Community and Protective Services Committee.
Remove Clause 5) “Entertainment” from Section 4.18 (Outdoor Patio Associated with a Restaurant or Tavern) of Zoning By-law Z-1.
By letter dated May 2, 2017, you were informed of the possible amendment described above.
You are now advised that the Planning & Environment Committee will consider this application at its meeting on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 no earlier than 5:00 pm. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers of City Hall, located at 300 Dufferin Avenue (north-east corner of Wellington Street). Each application is allocated a time for public delegations. It should be recognized however, that the Planning & Environment Committee may find it necessary to exceed the limit. Your co-operation is appreciated in the event that you have to wait for your application to be considered.

If a person or public body does not make oral or written submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of London before the proposed amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the City of London to the Ontario Municipal Board, or may not be added by the Board as a party to the hearing of an appeal unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
A neighbourhood or community association may exist in your area. If it reflects your views on this proposal, you may wish to select a representative of the association to submit comments on your behalf.
Your representative on City Council would also be pleased to discuss any concerns you may have with this application.

Hi Everyone! Come on out June 3, 2017 to PANA’s Water Blast event at McMahen Park . 1:00pm at the corner of Adelaide and McMahen Streets. All are welcome! Bring your favourite water gun or super-soaker and lets have a blast!! This outing is part of the 100 in 1 Day event that is occurring throughout the city.
Join us in cleaning up our neighbourhood on April 23rd, as part of the London Clean and Green events. We’ll be meeting at 10:30am on Saturday April 23rd at Piccadilly Park, cleaning the surrounding area and then making our way to the Black Walnut Café on Richmond for 11:30. Hope to see you all there!

It’s focused on useful information and inspiring stories for residents, volunteers and organizations, working to build great neighbourhoods in London.
